Wait For Me - Elizabeth Naughton

Book Blurb:
After a tragic accident left her with no memory, Kate Alexander struggled to fit in with a husband and world that didn’t feel right. She’s had no reason to question what friends and family have told her, not until her husband is suddenly killed and she finds a photo of a young girl in his office. A girl who can’t be anyone but a daughter Kate didn’t know she had.

Ryan Harrison lost his wife in a plane crash five years ago. To cope with the pain of her loss, he dedicated himself to his job and to raising their daughter. Now a successful pharmaceutical executive, Ryan has everything a man could want—money, fame and power—but he’d give it all up in a heartbeat for just one more day with the woman he still loves.

As Kate begins to dig into a past she doesn’t remember, evidence leads her to San Francisco and puts her on the path toward Ryan, a man who sees in her the woman he loved and lost. Kate feels a draw to Ryan, one she can’t explain, but is that feeling enough to convince her this is where she’s supposed to be? As Ryan and Kate search for answers, they uncover lies long buried, a passion hotter than either expected and a danger that threatens…even now…when the second chance they’ve both been searching for is finally within reach.

In My Own Words:
Recovering from her own nightmare wreck, and trying to regain memory that she is told will be lost forever, the last thing Kate needs or wants to hear is her husband was killed in a plane crash.  While going through his office to try and get her bearings under her, she stumbles across information that leads her to believe all may not be as it seems.

Ryan has gone through the past 5 years in a numb haze.  After losing the love of his life, the only thing he lives for now is his daughter Julia.  When Kate shows up out of the blue, he is confused as to what the heck is going on and hurt that she doesn't just run to his arms.  As they begin to dig deeper in to who she was and who she is now, lies, deceit and murder cross their paths.  With the help of her new found family, she is determined to get back what was lost.  If that includes a marriage to Ryan, she isn't so sure...

Notable Quote:
"Who the hell are you?" Ryan asked.
"I'm a friend of Kate's.  Who are you?"
"I'm her goddamn husband.  Can't you feel the love?"
(Tom meets Ryan for the first time while Kate and Ryan are having a "discussion")

Review:
A memory loss story with several twists and turns that keeps you turning the pages as fast as you can.  I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  It was recommended to me by several friends, and for some reason I just kept putting it off.  The stress of losing her memory added to the stress of losing her husband, only to find out that she actually has a living husband AND daughter.  A lesser woman would have caved under the intense pressure.  I fell in love immediately with her and her family.  I loved how Ryan tried to give in to her need to be Kate, but his need for her to be Annie, so he blended their name and called her Katie.  I enjoyed the banter between Kate's brother and Ryan, and the secondary romance between the brother and Simone was fun as well.  The children were written perfectly, I could actually picture Julia rolling her eyes.  A wonderfully refreshing romance.  A must read in my mind.
