The First Sin - Cheyenne McCray

Book Blurb:
Alexi Steele is determined, relentless, and driven to protect the innocent. She’s a top agent of the NSA’s clandestine Recovery Enforcement Division, specializing in human trafficking and sex crimes. Her current mission: To infiltrate the inner circle of Boston’s exclusive S&M clubs in order to save thirteen young women who are about to be auctioned off to the highest bidders. But Lexi’s only way in is under the “control” of her new partner in crime, Nicholas Donovan.

Nick will do whatever it takes to bring down the billionaire sex-ring mastermind who’s kidnapped his sister. But the games he must play as Lexi’s “dominant” are burning away his icy control, and blurring the lines between partners. Meanwhile, their enemies are closing in as they enter a devastating race against time…bringing them dangerously close to THE FIRST SIN.

In My Own Words:
Lexi has already been to hell and back in a previous life, and now she will take on the monsters that are stealing young women for profit.  Being assigned a new sexy partner wasn't part of the deal though, she is the boss and that is that.  Until orders come down from the top, and she realizes she has no choice.  Nick has his own reasons for wanting to take down this human trafficking ring.  His sister had been taken and he would do anything to get her back.  Now all they have to do is get invited to the inner circle of the the high class BDSM club, become members, learn their secrets and take them down.  Simple enough...but when things don't go as planned, Lexi and Nick are up against the clock and some really bad people.

Notable Quote:
"I'll do my therapy with my Glock."

Review:
Holy Cow, is the first thing I thought of when describing this book.  Romantic Suspense, BDSM and craziness all wrapped up in one book.  When I was almost done, all I could think was what else can this poor girl go through?  Lexi is a strong, sassy, intelligent RED agent.  She is leading her own team and refuses to take failure as an option.  Her professional life has been what nightmares are made of and she is determined to be good at her newest job as a team leader.  I enjoyed watching her realizes her strengths and her weaknesses.  This book is not for the faint of heart.  It takes you in to the deep dark world of human trafficking and BDSM clubs.  I describe it as being very disturbing while being super hot at the same time.  The author knows exactly how to make you "feel" for and with the characters.  There is someone in this book that you will relate to, no matter who you are.  I highly recommend this one.

To keep Ani safe, Daniel has to keep her close—and her enemies closer. Because soon there’s nowhere for Ani to hide…but in his arms.

In My Own Words:
After Ani King's family is brutally murdered by the Russian mob, she goes in to hiding with the help of the Witness Protection Service.  Her plan, to testify and put the murdering bastard behind bars for the rest of his life.  What she doesn't count on is that her heart is just a little to big.  And with one phone call to help a little boy in need, her cover is blown.

Daniel Parker has been Ani's Marshall for over a year and their weekly calls has settled her in his heart.  On this Friday, his call is answered and he learns that Ani has gone against protocol and has contacted someone from her past.  No matter the reason, she is now in grave danger.  A rush against the clock has him speeding through Arizona to get to her before the mafia does.  Once he has her safely with him, now the job is to get her safely to court to testify.

Review:
In an effort for full disclosure, I have been in a reading slump lately.  Not much has kept my attention, and there have been several books I have started and not finished.  Luckily, THIS isn't one of those books.  I loved this one from cover to cover.  There is nonstop action and hotness between Ani and Daniel.  Up against all odds, she had backbone and gumption and steel determination.  Daniel tried, he really tried to see her as only his charge, but all those weekly phone calls, really cemented her in his life and finally gave up being her Marshall and became her protector, lover and best friend all rolled up in one nice hot package.  There is one big secret that threatens their relationship, it was a secret you can easily figure out early on in the book, but I don't think knowing it took away from the story at all.  This wasn't your normal who-done-it book, as you know who did it, you are just waiting to see if they can do it to her.  An all in all great romantic suspense read.

Luke - Cheyenne McCray

Book Blurb:
After four years abroad, Trinity MacKenna has returned home to her family's ranch in southeastern Arizona. Everything in her life is going just the way she planned it—a home in London, a brilliant career, and she's practically engaged to a gorgeous English gentleman. But when Trinity meets Luke, the cowboy turns her perfect world upside down. Everything about him is virile and sexy, dark and dangerous—and definitely not part of Trinity’s carefully arranged plans.

From the moment Luke Denver sees the sensual strawberry blond, he knows he's got to have her. Luke is intrigued by Trinity’s combination of sophistication and innocence, boldness and shyness. Even when Trinity tells him she's taken, Luke doesn't let that stop him, because he's determined to make her his…no matter the cost.

In My Own Words:
Trinity comes home to regroup, to me it seems like she is here to make amends and reevaluate her life that she has become really proud of.  She has a home abroad that she loves, and a great career that is on the fast track and an almost fiancĂ©e that doesn't set her heart (or libido) on fire.  As soon as she hits town, she is sucked in to a holiday party wearing a daring dress feeling a little out of place and completely entranced in the cowboy staring at her from across the room.

Once home at the ranch, Trinity realizes her sister needs her more now than ever.  Finally being able to help with the investigation of the madness going on in her little hometown, she puts her computer expertise to work helping Zack locate the bad guys.  Unfortunately being back home, also puts her in harms way, not only with her life, but with her heart, as Luke is the ranch foreman for her sister.

Notable Scene:
Thrinity cried out and her eyelids flew open as the orgasm rocked her.
That's when she realized two crutial pieces of informationa the same time.  They hadn't used a condom, not at first and not now, either.
And, her sister was standing in the doorway to the office.

Review:
There is nothing better than a cowboy hero, unless of course that cowboy hero is also a DEA agent.  I fell in love with Luke with his first "sugar" comment.  I loved how he let Trinity get used to the idea of her being "his" completely and he wouldn't take anything less that her complete heart, mind and body.  It is usually the girl who puts those demands out there.  The book had it all, there were really bad guys doing really bad things, then there was an amazing love story that was so hot and intimate, the pages should have been burning.  I liked being able to catch up again with Zack and Skylar, and that they did play a part in the book, not just sitting on the sidelines being mushy and in love.  This story was just another stepping stone though in bringing down the operation, and I have no doubt that Clay, the next book and also the town lawman, will not rest until there is peace in his town.

Synopsis:
After a bitter divorce, reporter Kelsey Nichols has erected a border around her heart too strong for any man to cross. She's not ready for a relationship of any kind with any man. But when Kelsey meets Kade she can think of nothing but being in his powerful arms and in his bed.

Intelligence Agent Kade Owen is hot on the trail of a notorious smuggler when the sensual blonde reporter comes into his life. Once he gets a hold of Kelsey, nothing will stop Kade from winning her heart.

Review:
While at the airport getting ready to head to Arizona for some investigative reporting, Kelsey meets the handsome cowboy, Kade and they strike up and easy friendship.  The plane ride just solidifies his interest in her and when finding out they are staying at the same hotel, he asks her to dinner.  After leaving her at her room with a smoking hot kiss, he wonders if he will ever see her again.  At breakfast, visiting with his father who is there to meet the reporter that will be staying with them for the next several weeks, who walks in but Kelsey.  Both Kelsey and Kade are shocked that they will now be spending the next few weeks sleeping under the same roof.  While Kelsey strikes off to write her article and conduct her interviews, Kade slowly starts to break down her heavily lined walls that are around her heart from her disastrous marriage.  With Kade getting to close to a human smuggling ring, things begin to get more heated.  Then Kade's family is threatened and action must be taken.  Kade knows almost immediately that he is in love with Kelsey, will she realize what is in front of her before it is to late?

Notable Quote:
"Can we keep her dad?"  (Trent talking to Kade about Kelsey)

Rating:
I loved this book from cover to cover.  I was pretty sure I had all the bad guys picked out early on, but I have to admit I get surprised by one at the end, which I love when I can't figure it all out.  I love the chemistry between Kade and Kelsey and that she didn't just fall at his feet from the beginning, but he had to work hard to get her to open up to him.  In my opinion, a good book is one that brings out a myriad of emotions, and that is exactly what this one did.  I had adrenaline pumping, and the sex scenes were not only hot but intimate, and the scenes with Trent warmed my heart.  I felt myself smiling at times and turning the pages faster to see what happens next.  I can't wait to read the next in the Armed & Dangerous series.
